Elders Rural Services has announced it will cut its workforce by 140 employees as part of its review into improving cost effectiveness of its operations.
The company, owned by Futuris Corporation, said the job losses will mainly affect people working at the company's head office in Adelaide and other support centre locations across the country.
It said the job cuts equates to around 5 per cent of its workforce.

Elders Rural Services today confirmed the results of a recent review of the company's head office and business support centre services, aimed at identifying avenues for improving the cost effectiveness of its branch network operations.
The full impact for job losses has been confirmed with a reduction of 140 roles or approximately 5% of the company's Australian workforce. These job losses affect people working at the company's head office in Adelaide and at other support centre locations across Australia.
The review is the second stage of the business transformation program that Elders committed to in June this year.
The first stage involved replacement of the company's state-based management with a new regionally-based management structure, involving the placement of key leadership roles in rural and regional communities.
"Having put in place a regional management structure to improve our service proposition for clients, our focus has now moved to the support structures for our network, and the clients who depend on it," said Elders Rural Services Managing Director, Mike Guerin.
"We want to ensure that the Elders network is properly supported so that it can deliver the service quality our clients expect from Elders on a cost-competitive basis," Mr Guerin said.
"Australian farmers should have access to best-in-class agribusiness services that are as cost competitive as they are relevant. This is why we have undertaken this review of our head office and support centres."
