Leading WA property, construction and engineering firm DORIC has won another high profile, independent award for their innovative management systems which enable the company to deliver quality projects on time and on budget.
The DORIC Management System won the category of "Management of Engineering" at the 2007 WA Engineering Excellence Awards on 21 September in Perth.
Business Development Manager Keith Somers said the award was an independent endorsement of DORIC's commitment to excellence by meeting identified industry benchmarks.
The system is currently being used on the $11M upgrade of the Kelmscott Train Station and Interchange and was used extensively on five other railway interchange stations, worth a combined $66M, that were delivered for the Public Transport Authority as part of the Southern Suburbs Railway project recently.
"Excellence in business requires a continuous commitment and DORIC has always been committed to quality, high values, robust systems and strong management," Mr Somers said.
"Our systems have contributed to outstanding service and long-term sustainability. We have long recognised that it is better to be a leader than a follower. It is better for our clients, employees, subcontractors and shareholders."
The strength of DORIC's management systems was also recognised in 2006 when the company became the first construction company in Australia to win the Business Excellence Framework Award. The BEF is an international award that benchmarked DORIC's systems against world's best practice.
"Our world-class systems allow us to attract and retain quality staff which provides DORIC with a competitive service delivery edge in our industry. Ongoing training ensures we continue to improve the business," Mr Somers said.
"Our competitive advantage means we have the people to move forward in an industry sector which is currently experiencing labour shortages. This enables more clients to benefit from our professional and efficient services."
