The Town of Port Hedland has announced Doric Constructions and Earthcare Landscapes as the preferred bidders to build the town's new recreation facilities worth more than $45 million.
Construction is expected to start in August next year.
Port Hedland's Mayor Kelly Howlett said the projects were significant step forward in meeting the recreational needs of town's growing community, with a population predicted to reach 40,000 by 2025.
"The new Marquee Park and the Multi-Purpose Recreation Centre will contribute to a better lifestyle and sense of community for those living in or seeking opportunities in Hedland, helping to attract and retain workers and their families," Ms Howlett said.
"These facilities are an important part of the infrastructure required to transform Hedland into a vibrant city of the north," she said.
The $32.69 million multi-purpose recreation centre has been funded by the Town of Port Hedland, Royalties for Regions, BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Compass Group and Auzcorp.
The water park which is designed to attract visitors from across the Pilbara, received funding from the Town of Port Hedland, BHP Billiton, South Hedland New Living, Royalties for Regions, Newcrest Mining and Lotterywest.
