Construction firm Diploma Group has signed a joint venture agreement with privately owned construction and earthworks company Matera 3 to stimulate indigenous employment opportunities in the building and contracting sector.
Under the agreement, the companies will provide a suite of construction services with the aim of developing long-term employment strategies for indigenous people, particularly in the regional areas.
The joint venture with target earthworks, road works and infrastructure packages for resource developments; building, construction and refurbishment works; and heavy industrial projects, including materials handling and storage facilities.
Diploma Construction managing director John Norup said the company was pleased to have forged the partnership with Matera 3, which is owned and operated by Michael, Peter and Gerard Matera.
“Michael, Peter and Gerard Matera have outstanding reputations as leaders in their communities, which, coupled with the high standards and quality of Matera 3’s work, provides new depth to what Diploma offers to our clients,” Mr Norup said.
Peter Matera said the partnership would help to stimulate employment, education, training and mentoring opportunities for indigenous communities.
“Over the past few years I have been involved in community based programs for indigenous peoples living in the North West with great results,” Mr Matera said.
“This partnership with Diploma is long-term, and will enable us to develop great relationships with the mining resource sector as well as continuing our support of the indigenous communities in these remote locations.”
