Darwin not Dubai for the Pilbara

The state government has today unveiled plans to develop Karratha and Port Hedland into more liveable cities, modeled on Darwin rather than Dubai, in a bid to soften the Pilbara's hostility to new arrivals and meet the need for expanded services in the region.

Port Hedland
Great, affordable housing is important. The shortage means landlords do nothing in ongoing maintenance of their properties yet the rent religiously goes up every six months. I live at Cooke Point caravan park as a site only resident. I own my van. How can it be justified that the rent I pay is $308 per week for a site. Any maintenance issues with the van are mine. The site rent is comparable to what is charged for a bedroom in an apartment. There needs to be some sort of capping regulation in the meantime to give people a fair chance
