Daily COVID cases in Western Australia have reached a new record, peaking for the second consecutive day as WA Health reports more than 10,000 new infections.
WA Health reported 10,182 new COVID cases overnight, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 46,664.
There are 271 people with COVID-19 in hospital last night, with nine in ICU.
Six COVID-related deaths were also reported overnight, being three women in their 90s, a man in his 90s, a woman in her 80s and a man in his 80s.
All were historical deaths dating back to March 28 but were only reported to WA Health yesterday.
Today's figures show a jump from yesterday's reported 9,782 COVID cases and 242 people with COVID in hospital but a drop from 10 people in ICU.
COVID health measures, including indoor mask mandates, capacity limits for venues, border restrictions and proof of vaccination requirements were removed on Friday.
The state government's health modelling initially expected WA to reach the peak of the pandemic in mid-March.
The modelling predicted 10,000 new COVID cases, 443 COVID positive patients in hospital, 56 in ICU and three deaths per day.
Premier Mark McGowan previously said the latest health advice indicated WA had experienced its COVID peak, with the number of hospitalisations declining.
He also said the intensive care admission rate was sitting at one-tenth of what was predicted by the health modelling.
