The planned revamp of the Department of Land Information has been completed, with the launch of a new title and largely new board by Land Information Minister Michelle Roberts this morning.
Mrs Roberts said the agency's core Government and community obligations remained the same, with the added advantage of more choice and improved services.
"Landgate will continue to provide all Western Australians with the same high quality services as its predecessor, the Department of Land Information," she said.
The agency maintains the State's official register of land ownership and surveying information and also manages land and property valuations in WA.
"As a statutory authority, the revenue Landgate generates will be reinvested into the running of the agency - substantially reducing its dependence on Government funding."
The Minister also announced the appointment of Katrina Burton, Gail Curtis, Susan Thomas and Peter Cooke to the Landgate board for three-year terms, supporting chairman Monty House and Landgate's chief executive Grahame Searle.
"There is a great deal of accumulated political, business and management expertise amongst these board members," Mrs Roberts said.
"Each brings a wealth of experience that will benefit the agency - their energy and expertise will help drive Landgate forward."
Katrina Burton has been a non-executive board member on various financial institution's boards and committees, and has a strong legal background.
Gail Curtis is a CPA and a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia.
She has extensive experience in providing advice to small and medium sized businesses in the areas of finance, taxation, business planning and strategies.
Susan Thomas is recognised as an industry leader in service delivery and standards.
Her expertise is in strategic management and law.
Peter Cooke has a varied background in agriculture, agribusiness, finance, business development, project management, marketing, communications and strategic planning.
