Melbourne-based Cue Energy Resources says it will look for a joint venture partner shortly for its gas project off the Pilbara coast, which has the potential to host a large resource.
The company today said it had processed seismic surveys at its wholly-owned WA-389-P permit, with preliminary interpretation already started.
The permit is located 90 kilometres north of the North Rankin Trend gas/condensate province, and contains similar geology to the recent Iago, Pluto and Wheatstone discoveries, Cue claims.
"Mapping on existing 2D seismic data has identified several large structural leads in the area with the potential to contain multiple TCF [trillion cubic feet] of gas in Triassic reservoirs," Cue said.
The company added that a formal farm-out process will start next quarter to attract a partner to the area.
