Crosswalk lights refused

COUNCIL has balked at a proposal to place orange flashing warning lights on the zebra crossing on Kings Park Road east of Havelock Street.

Councillor Bert Tudori argued council was putting too much of the onus onto pedestrians.”

Dr Nattrass agreed council owed pedestrians in the city a duty of care but the believed it had done enough to satisfy that duty.

“We have zig-zag lines going for 75 yards down the road, plus a sign warning motorists about the crosswalk and amber lights illuminating the crosswalk at night,” he said.
