Dr Nattrass agreed council owed pedestrians in the city a duty of care but the believed it had done enough to satisfy that duty.
“We have zig-zag lines going for 75 yards down the road, plus a sign warning motorists about the crosswalk and amber lights illuminating the crosswalk at night,” he said.
