IN a move to help improve the ecology of Australia’s cities, the Property Council of Australia has formally offered its support to the Australian Green Development Forum (AGDF).
The Property Council’s environmental agenda includes promoting market-led change in the energy efficiency of commercial buildings, and promoting best practice case studies of design and management plans for sustainable development.
The partnership with the Australian Green Development Forum offered the opportunity to share knowledge and work with other parts of the property industry to promote sustainable development.
The AGDF is a non-profit organisation designed to promote the understanding and adoption of sustainable practices in the building and development industry.
The forum proposes an industry-wide solution, market-led approaches and strategies based on achievable commercial realities.
Therefore, we believe it warrants support from all industry groups.
Not only is a unified industry in a much stronger position to make a difference, but it also provides a more certain point of contact for both the industry and the greater community.
The alternative is for the industry to do nothing and achieve little, forcing governments to intervene with regulatory measures which history shows never works.
