A Georgiou Group joint venture is undertaking a $494 million project for Transport for New South Wales, while Kerman Contracting was awarded a $22 million contract from Karara Mining.
Work on the M12 Motorway (West) project in New South Wales was won by a 50:50 joint venture between Georgiou Group and CPB Contractors, a subsidiary of CIMIC Group.
The project includes the construction of a 6km dual carriageway motorway as well as the construction of 11 bridges and a grade-separated interchange connected with Western Sydney Airport.
Georgiou Group executive general manager east coast and incoming chief executive Gary Georgiou said the project would see Georgiou return to western Sydney where the company had previously delivered two stages of The Northern Road Upgrade.
“For Georgiou, the award of this project compliments the great work in the successful delivery of the previous projects in this region,” Mr Georgiou said.
“Our first Georgiou project in Western Sydney was The Northern Road Upgrade Stage 1 back in 2016 and then we completed The Northern Road Upgrade Stage 4 in 2021.
“We have worked hard to build our capability and a great reputation with our client Transport for NSW through many successful projects, and the natural progression is to deliver larger projects and continue to build our expertise.”
The group estimated the project will employ a wider workforce of about 250 people.
The news comes after Georgiou in part credited its $20 million lift in revenue to $628 million in the 2021 financial year to its east coast expansion.
The construction company is the second largest in WA, according to Business News’ Data & Insights.
Meanwhile, Kerman Contracting announced today it was the recipient of a $22 million contract for the structural, mechanical, piping installation works for Karara Mining’s Tailings Filtration Project.
The work comprises of the erection of a new tailings filtration building, including the installation of associated piping, belt feeders, chutes, tankage and other equipment at its mid-west mine site.
