THE seasonally adjusted volume of new residential building work done in WA decreased by 0.8 per cent between the March and June quarters, but rose by 5.7 per cent through the four quarters to June.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted volume of residential work done rose by 0.2 per cent over the quarter and by 11.3 per cent through the year to June.
WA's seasonally adjusted volume of non-residential work done fell by 1.5 per cent between March and June 2004 to stand 0.2 per cent higher than its level a year previously. The volume of non-residential work done throughout Australia increased by 1.9 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms over the quarter and by 9.7 per cent through the year to June.
The volume of engineering construction work done in WA decreased by 8.8 per cent between March and June 2004. The volume of work done fell by 16.6 per cent through the four quarters to June.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted volume of engineering construction work done fell by 3.4 per cent between the March and June quarters. The volume of work done was 2.4 per cent higher than in the June quarter of 2003.
The volume of non-residential work done throughout Australia increased by 1.9 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms between March and June 2004. The volume of work done increased by 9.7 per cent through the four quarters to June.
