THE Australian Society of CPAs has assembled a top cast of speakers for CPA Congress 99. Congress is an event for those wanting to keep abreast of the latest developments in the finance and business world.
The Sir Charles Court Accounting Oration will be delivered by Professor YT Kee, a business management expert and Fulbright Scholar who earned his MBA and PhD at the University of Minnesota. Professor Kee works with many of Australia’s major companies, including AMP, Westpac, Mitsubishi, Hewlett Packard, IBM, CRA and Coles-Myer.
Peter Ellyard is regarded as one of Australia’s leading spokesmen for the future. Dr Ellyard spent three years as executive director of the Commission of the Future, was special adviser to the secretary general of the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1993 and is chairman of the Universal Greening Group.
He is executive director of Preferred Futures and is called upon to assist government agencies, foreign governments and companies to plan for the future.
Another well-known speaker is politician, writer and broadcaster Barry Jones. Mr Jones was Minister for Science from 1983 to 1990 and enjoys the rare distinction of having been elected as a Fellow of three Australian Academies — Science (1996), the Humanities (1993) and Technological Sciences and Engineering (1992).
Also speaking is John Tickell, known as the man who turns stress into success. Dr Tickell has seen life from both sides of the desk — as a medical consultant to highly pressured corporate individuals and as a successful business person who created a $140 million resort from the ground up.
His research shows that the more most of us strive for success, the more we suffer for it.
CPA Congress also has special sessions on the GST, the IT revolution, modern leadership and management skills.
