COMPUTRONICS has installed Australia’s longest electronic LED scrolling message sign at Channel Seven’s Sydney headquarters.
Spanning three sides of the Colonial Centre, the sign displays 140 metres of text, 70 in both red and white LED, which equals about 380 characters per line.
Computronics’ James Feehan said the company had also designed special software for Channel 7 called Newsware that allowed the network to run its news feed to the sign.
Other features of the software include the ability to automatically or manually dim the sign, the ability to control each line of text separately and also the ability that allows the bottom line to mirror the top line.
Mr Feehan said the white LEDs were a relatively new development and had been needed for this project because white and red were Channel 7’s corporate colours.
The sign was made in 45 blocks at Computronics Technology Park facility and shipped across to Sydney for installation.
The LED sign business is the second part of Computronics business along with its Farmscan products for cropping farmers.
Besides the Colonial Centre job, Computronics has also installed signs at Federation Square Melbourne and Gatwick and Heathrow airports in England.
