West Perth-based biotechnology company CollTech Australia Ltd has received its first Asian orders for its Ovicoll cosmetic collagen, to be used in collagen-based skincare products such as moisturisers and eye gels.
In a release to the stock exchange, CollTech general manager Leearne Hinch said the initial orders demonstrated market acceptance for the product in the Asian market, and that the company would continue to focus on establishing partnerships with cosmetic ingredient distributors and manufacturers as it enters new markets.
CollTech also announced today the appointment of former Chemeq Ltd quality operations manager Stewart Walton as its operations manager, with chairman Stephen Carter saying Mr Walton's development, manufacturing and project management experience would prove invaluable as the company moved forward.
CollTech specialises in the development of ovine (sheep) collagen and collagen based food, cosmetic and medical products. The company aims to address a market need for an alternative to the more commonly used bovine collagen, which is considered culturally unacceptable by some religious groups and continues to generate fears of BSE (Mad Cow Disease).
