Cole Inquiry wraps up

IN a sensational end to the Cole Inquiry last week, AWB executives could face criminal charges under federal anti-terror laws for providing funds to Saddam Hussein. The ‘wheat kickbacks’ inquiry also revealed the deposed Iraqi leader was the architect of the scheme, producing an AWB legal document that showed Saddam issuing a directive to AWB that it pays Iraq $US12 per metric tonne, in October 1999.
