SMALL business will get a fairer go following the Federal Government’s decision to establish a voluntary code of conduct for the retail sector, says Small Business Development Corporation managing director George Etrelezis.
Mr Etrelezis said the SBDC would have preferred a mandatory code underpinned by the Trade Practices Act but the decision was still a good one.
The government has also supported the establishment of a retail ombudsman, who is due to start work on 1 July. WA Retailers Association chief executive Martin Dempsey said he hoped the WA Government would set up a similar ombudsman in WA.
