CHALLENGER Institute of Technology has become the first Western Australian training provider to deliver a training course for the automotive industry that will enable technicians to perform qualified servicing to LPG-equipped vehicles.
Previously this was limited to technicians with full LPG installation licences.
“The new course allows tradespeople who complete the course to apply to EnergySafety for their Restricted E Class LPG permit, which in turn allows them to service and repair LPG vehicles,” Challenger program manager Geoff Brame said in a statement.
“This includes the service and repair of Ford, Holden and other makes, as well as forklift trucks and industrial sweepers.
“Before this course came into effect, major motor vehicle companies were not in a position to service their own LPG vehicles.”
The course will be delivered at Challenger’s Automotive Skills Training Centre in Kwinana, and will be limited to 12 students at a time.
