Carbon trade helper formed

A NON-profit organisation designed to develop experience in trading greenhouse gas emission credits has been established in Perth.

EcoCarbon has been incorporated by its founding members which include the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Renewable Energy, Woodside Energy, IT Environmental, ICF Kaiser Consulting and Hamersley Iron.

Woodside business development manager David Dabney said many companies were seeking to develop expertise quickly and efficiently so emissions trading could be adapted to their operations easily.

EcoCarbon aims to help Australian industry work cooperatively to develop a greenhouse gas virtual trading program.

EcoCarbon also acts as a clearing house of up-to-date information and technical support on GHG emissions trading and related issues such as the Kyoto protocol.
