CO2 Group is expanding into the international carbon market and establishing operations in New Zealand.
CO2 Group's chief executive officer Andrew Grant said the New Zealand market was attractive because it has a domestic carbon trading scheme.
"And one of the really critical features of the New Zealand scheme is that it enables you to export the New Zealand credits and service the international carbon market," he said.
"We are still enjoying growth," he said. "We have got long-term contracts that we are still managing and delivering, but we are ambitious and we want a bigger piece of the action and by virtue against in New Zealand, it delivers much of that growth that we otherwise couldn't get in Australia," said Mr Grant.
A carbon emissions trading scheme is expected to begin in New Zealand on July 1.
CO2 Group is forming a partnership with Tukia Group, which represents the large Maori groups on New Zealand's North Island.
Tukia manages 176,000 hectares of forestry.
"There is tremendous opportunity within that estate to develop a dedicated carbon forest," said Mr Grant.
'Our third partner there is Carbon Energy Partners who (have) got very strong and established relationships with New Zealand business and particularly the energy sector, and that will help us form very strong relationship with the compliance parties in New Zealand," he said.
Mr Grant said CO2 Group hopes to attract third party investors into dedicated carbon forests.
