NATIONAL hardware giant Bunnings has announced it will build a trade centre at Neerabup’s Meridian Park industrial estate.
LandCorp business manager industrial, John Hackett, said Bunnings’ purchase of the Meridian Park site would provide significant confidence to other businesses considering relocating to the north-west corridor.
He said the 400-hectare Meridian Park estate, which LandCorp expects to meet the industrial lands needs of the north-west corridor for the next 15 years, was destined to become a key economic and employment generator for the region.
“By 2031, Perth’s north-west corridor is expected to house some 418,000 people, with the population in the City of Wanneroo alone forecast to grow to 251,000 by 2021,” he said.
Local MP Paul Miles said the new development would provide significant employment opportunities and would save employees considerable travel time.
Construction on the 8,000 square metre Bunnings site, located on the corner of Greenwich Parade and Avery Street, is due to start in the next few months.
Other established businesses in the Neerabup industrial area include laminated lumber manufacturer Wesbeam and national construction materials supplier Boral.
Meridian Park lies within the 1,000ha Neerabup Industrial Estate, which LandCorp is developing in partnership with the City of Wanneroo.
