Bunbury's Perkins buys 50% of pool builder AVP

Bunbury-based commercial building, engineering and property group, Perkins (WA) Pty Ltd has announced it has acquired a 50 per cent stake in commercial swimming pool contractor AVP Constructions Pty Ltd.

Owned and managed by Mark and Carol Harper, AVP Constructions is WA's largest commercial and resort swimming pool contractor.

Mark Harper will continue as director and general manager of the business.

AVP has successfully completed major swimming pool contracts throughout Australia including the state of the art training and coaching pool located at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and a 500 metre long resort pool in Nelson Bay NSW.

Western Australian projects include local government aquatic centres at Craigie, Inglewood, Riverton and Warnbro, the 50metre Joondalup Arena pool, the international standard South West Sports Centre in Bunbury and the Narrogin Regional Aquatic Centre.

Perkins is a well known name in the WA construction and property industries. The groups building arm, Perkins Builders, is the state's largest regionally based builder and is recognised as an industry leader in the construction of sporting, leisure and aquatic facilities.

Perkins' major projects include Next Generation Health and Lifestyle Clubs at Bibra Lake and Kings Park, the South West Sports Centre in Bunbury and commercial projects such as the $11m Bunbury Administration and Civic Centre, $20m Smiths Beach Resort at Yallingup and several school complexes for DHW.

With established offices in Bunbury, Busselton and Perth and an order book of over $150m of projects, Perkins is well placed to continue its recent impressive expansion.
