SINGAPORE-BASED budget airline Valuair will fly directly to Perth from December this year.
Valuari’s public relations manager Nilesh Pritam said prices had not been set yet but the airline would continue its policy of being 40 per cent cheaper than the major carriers.
Valuair began operating in May this year with services to Hong Kong and has since expanded to include Bangkok and Jakarta.
Mr Pitram said the airline had chosen to expand its operations to include Perth because of its popularity with Singaporeans for holidays, living and studying.
Qantas and Singapore Airlines are the only carriers that currently fly between Singapore and Perth, with return fares averaging $500 to $700.
WA fresh produce exporters may also benefit as a result of the new air services as Valuair is collaborating with leading Singaporean supermarket chain NTUC FairPrice.
Airline representatives said Valuair was also looking to open new routes into China.
