The Acting Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Phillip Ruddock, today announced the appointment by the Governor-General in Council of Mr Bruce Williams, as a Commissioner of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission. Mr Williams is an experienced manager and brings a wealth of practical experience to the Commission. Most recently, Mr Williams held the position of Executive Director of Workplace Relations for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Western Australia. He was first employed by CCI in 1993. During his employment by CCI, as Director of Workplace Relations Policy, he was responsible for workplace relations, occupational health and safety and workers compensation policy development. He also held the senior positions of Divisional Director of Employee Relations, and Manager of the Enterprise Consultancy and Metals and Engineering Unit. Between 1984 and 1992, Mr Williams was an Industrial Relations Advocate at the Confederation of Western Australian Industry. In this role he provided representation to employees and appeared regularly in State and Federal Industrial Relations Commissions.
