Through its partnerships with the WA Symphony Orchestra and the Art Gallery of WA, law firm Blake Dawson Waldron is not only building a relationship between itself and the arts sector, but also has brought the two arts organisations in to a unique relationship with each other.
Blake is seeking to initiate a reputation as a significant contributor to the arts and culture within the community, and managing partner Philip Edmands said the uniqueness of the collaboration allowed for many benefits.
“We aim to demonstrate to our corporate clients and to professional service organisations that engagement within the community and the arts can be enriching and rewarding for both the sponsor and the arts organisation, as much in the case of service providers like law firms as for large corporates,” Mr Edmands said.
“By partnering one of the State’s leading arts organisations, Blake’s have established their profile as a supporter of the arts and culture and developed a meaningful long-term partnership with a community/arts organisation which has a synergy with Blake’s markets and values.”
WASO at the Gallery is an orchestra of 33 players hosted at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, with performances coinciding with three of the gallery’s major 2004 exhibitions.
Introduced in 2003, the WASO at the Gallery series completely sold out on subscription.
WASO executive manager of corporate development James Boyd said that, with the support of Blake, WASO was able to move beyond the confines of the Perth Concert Hall and perform in a setting that offered a unique experience for its audience.
Art Gallery of Western Australia director Alan Dodge said the gallery was very interested in cross-promoting the arts.
“We need to build audiences to the arts, and collaborations such as the one between WASO and the Art Gallery opens up audiences to new forms of arts,” Mr Dodge said.
