Civil contractor Brierty has secured a new $13.4 million civil works contract with BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina in the South West of Western Australia.
The contract builds on the $35 million in new contracts Brierty has secured in the first quarter of the 2009/10 financial year.
Brierty managing director Stuart Crofts said Brierty's construction team would mobilise to the site in January 2010 with works expected to continue into 2011.
"The project is part of Worsley Alumina's $A2.5b Efficiency and Growth project," Mr Crofts said.
"The project scope includes bulk earthworks, drainage and road construction for Worsley's Marradong mine project.
"Brierty has a proven track record of securing repeat work from clients based on delivering strong operational performance and value for money. The project scope is core to Brierty's capability and theproject team assigned to the works successfully completed similar works on Newmont's Boddington Gold Mine Project, which recently commenced production," Mr Crofts said.
Mr Crofts said Brierty's management team was successfully implementing the firm's business strategy, which included maintaining a balanced portfolio of projects across the construction and mining sectors, and developing the business in targeted growth sectors.
"We have built an excellent platform for future growth and are well placed to take advantage of the improving business conditions," Mr Crofts said.
