Australian energy company Cool Energy Limited ("Cool Energy") has moved a step closer to commercialisation of its world-class gas CO2 removal technology with the appointment of leading energy expert William F. Bloking to the position of Chairman.
Mr Bloking has more than thirty-two years of experience in the energy sector and has held senior executive positions in Australia, Asia, South America, and the USA. He recently retired from BHP Billiton Petroleum, where he was President, Australia/Asia Gas and had overall strategic, commercial and corporate accountability for BHP Billiton's international LNG business and its domestic gas business in Australia.
In his role as Chairman of Cool Energy Mr Bloking will play a key role in driving the commercialisation of Cool Energy's technology, which is already underway.
Cool Energy is currently demonstrating a revolutionary new type of natural gas CO2 removal technology with the aim of commercialising high CO2 gas fields globally. Field trials of this technology taking place at ARC Energy's Xyris Site in the Perth Basin are due to be completed in mid-2007.
Cool Energy Managing Director Jessie Inman believes that Mr Bloking's high level energy expertise and knowledge of the Australian and international gas markets will be invaluable to the company as it now moves from the demonstration phase to the commercialisation phase.
"Mr. Bloking's in-depth knowledge and extensive relationships make him an invaluable addition to Cool Energy, at a time when we are moving towards commercialisation of our technology," Ms Inman said
"We are at an important stage in the development of Cool Energy and its technology and we look forward to him playing a key role in assisting us to set the course for the successful commercialisation of this technology.
Mr Bloking, who was formerly a non-executive director of the company, replaces Mr John Thompson who has resigned to pursue other interests.
The board thanks Mr Thompson for the considerable assistance he has provided to the company during his time as a board member.
