WELCOME to the weekly Business News.

WA’s business paper of the past seven years will now be published twice as often.

The first weekly edition of Business News includes the debut of several new writers and columns.

Awarding-winning food and wine critic Stewart van Raalte will put Perth’s diverse restaurants to the test each week and local and national wines will be judged by one of the country’s leading critics.

Briefcase has been revamped.

International finance journalist Malcolm Surry will delve into the business dealings and read between the lines of the major issues to provide an unbiased, independent analysis of events in the business world.

Surry has 40 years’ experience in reporting and management in London, Scotland, South-East Asia and Australia.

Former Reuters and The Australian journalist Carolyn Simmonds has also joined Business News as a contributor.

David Tiddy, former news editor of London magazine Southern Cross and senior reporter and sub editor of Tasmanian newspaper The Advocate, has been appointed news editor of Business News.

They join an experienced team of writers which includes senior writer Noel Dyson, media and marketing, business technology and general news reporter Rebecca De Rosa, property writer Gary Kleyn and resources writer Tony Coetsee.

There are also a number of new features to broaden the paper’s outlook and better cater to readers.

Two new finance pages devoted to managed funds and sharemarket figures and a WA economic indicators page are additions to the weekly paper.

These will complement expert analysis and advice by leading Perth financial consultant and media personality Suresh Rajan.Sydney-based and nationally- syndicated cartoonist Paul Zanetti will provide sharp, witty takes on the latest issues and lecturers and academics from Curtin University of Technology and UWA will share a column to discuss their latest work.

A new column in Business Technology will reveal and review the latest sites on the Internet.

The paper’s expansion to a weekly format included relocating to 82 Beaufort Street, Perth.
