Clough chief executive and managing director Peter Bennett has been appointed to lead the board of Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre as chair.
Clough chief executive and managing director Peter Bennett has been appointed to lead the board of Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre as chair.
Mr Bennett is set to work alongside the not-for-profit organisation’s chief executive Benjamin Jardine to guide its strategic direction and advance its mission to support people living with type 1 diabetes.
Mr Bennett’s son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in May 2018 when he was eight years old, which directed Mr Bennett and his family to Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre.
Mr Bennett said the Stirling-based centre connected his family to a community of families facing similar challenges and helped normalise diabetes.
"Having type 1 in our family has certainly opened my eyes to the everyday challenges many people in our community face", Mr Bennett said.
"The Family Centre, with its diabetes educators, dietitians, and psychologist, provides a world-class resource that answers questions and provides advice to help families through the learning curve.”
Mr Jardine said the organisation was delighted to welcome Mr Bennett as board chair.
"With Peter's impressive background and relationships within Western Australia and his personal connection to type 1 diabetes, I am confident that his leadership will be instrumental in driving the Family Centre's expansion and success in the years to come."
Mr Bennett succeeds Robert Towner who served as chair from June 2021 and as a director on the board since the inception of the organisation.
Since graduating as a mechanical engineer, Mr Bennett has accumulated more than 30 years’ experience in the energy and infrastructure contracting service industry.
Prior to joining Clough, he worked as CB&I oil and gas international president in the Netherlands for two years.
Mr Bennett has been at the helm of Clough since February 2016 and remains as the chief executive and managing director following the purchase of the company by Italy-owned global construction contractor Webuild.
Administrators for Clough struck an agreement to sell its Australian business and key assets to Webuild on December 14 last year.
The December agreement included an option to expand the scope of the transaction to include additional projects if acceptable conditions were negotiated.
