Consolidated Minerals has announced the appointment of Rodney Baxter as the company's new managing director.
Mr Baxter, who joined ConsMin from Anglo American in February 2005, is currently Consolidated Minerals general manager group services and will take up the new role from July 1, replacing Michael Kiernan.
Mr Baxter will immediately join the board as an executive director to facilitate the management transition, giving him access to Mr Kiernan's knowledge of Consolidated's business and global markets, and his extensive network of industry contacts.
The company said this would also maintain the continuity and integrity of Consolidated's business model with an ongoing focus on the efficient and cost effective management of its core manganese, chromite and nickel operations while continuing to progress existing and appropriate new business initiatives.
Commenting on the appointment Mr Kiernan said, "Rodney Baxter's experience at Anglo American as a multi-commodity business operating in a complex global market place has proven to be invaluable at Consolidated, with a mix of skills that aligns well with our current needs and hands-on management approach."
Michael Kiernan is to remain on the Board beyond 30 June 2006 as a non-executive director.
