Western Australian oil and gas player Baraka Petroleum has begun a US$3.7 million airborne survey of its Taoudeni Basin in Mali
The airborne survey commenced in late January covering the company's five Taoudeni Basin blocks, over a total of 193,200 km2 extending to the border with Mauritania.
The six month survey will enable the company to better define the basin structure, and the potential of source rock within the oil and gas windows.
To date over 17,000 kms of lines have been flown in excellent conditions.
Baraka's Chief Operating Officer Dr Satyavan Reymond said the commencement of the survey provided the company with the opportunity to generate excellent data on the Taoudeni Basin, with all data validated daily by Baraka's quality control team in Perth.
Baraka Petroleum's objective is to established, acquire, consolidate and develop oil and gas assets and activities, located in the potential hydrocarbon basins in West Africa.
It has one of the largest oil and gas exploration assets in West Africa, which has attracted the attention of international petroleum exploration and production companies.
