Perth-based Azure Healthcare has announced a deal to acquire Sedco Communications, one of its main competitors in the hospital communications systems sector.
Azure said it expected the transaction to provide an immediate revenue boost, with a minimal increase in operational overheads.
Commercial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Sedco was established in 1969 and has established itself as a global leader in healthcare communications in Australia and New Zealand, as we ll as Singapore, the Middle East and Indonesia.
Azure chief executive Robert Grey said the company’s focus over the coming months would be on integrating the two brands to provide a unified communications solution.
“As a competitor, both companies were duplicating product development efforts and this acquisition will enable us to streamline these efforts and substantially reduce the combined R&D expenditure,” Mr Grey said.
“Additionally, both businesses have developed complementary solutions within the healthcare space – which enables us to cross sell products and solutions throughout the customer base.”
The acquisition of Sedco will give Azure the largest footprint of nurse call systems internationally, with more than 8,000 systems deployed in 80 countries.
