Academic wins Citation Laureate
UNIVERSITY of Western Australia Biomedical and Chemical Sciences professor Allan White has been included in a 17-strong list to receive Citation Laureates.
The Citation Laureates are presented to academics in the sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities.
Professor White’s work within the Chemistry and Crystallography Centre at UWA has included research on the use of X-ray diffraction methods in his own and collaborative projects.
He has been involved in the precise definition of the structural architecture of thousands of significant compounds ranging from natural products to minerals, to drugs and catalysts.
The Citation Laureates are awarded by US-based publishers Thomson-ISI. It analysed, from 1981 to 1999, the number of times researchers mentioned the work of other scientists in their publications and found that Professor White was cited by academic peers more times than anyone else in the field of chemistry.
Whelans two win top award
WHELANS surveyors Nathan Allister and Laui Gatti have been awarded the SJ Stokes Award.
Whelans retiring chairman Ed McKinnon said the SJ Stokes Award was the highest honour a graduating surveyor could achieve.
He said that took to four the number of Whelans articled surveyors that had won the award.
