AusGroup’s scaffolding subsidiary has won a $34.5 million contract for works on Chevron’s $52 billion Gorgon LNG development.
The Singapore-listed AusGroup said that subsidiary MAS Australasia would perform the multi-purpose scaffolding works, which will provide access for insulation, painting and installation on Barrow Island.
The deal, with the engineering joint venture, CB&I-Kentz, is expected to create at least 80 full-time jobs.
AusGroup managing director Laurie Barlow said the contract win reinforced MAS as a leading industrial scaffolder.
“We hope that our strong performance with this scope of work will further strengthen our relationship with the CB&I-Kentz joint venture as we continue providing a range of services on the Chevron-operated Gorgon project.,” Mr Barlow said in a statement.
The contract is the latest in a series of significant deals won by AusGroup, which is performing strongly in the oil and gas services sector despite a widespread slowdown of new opportunities.
AusGroup announced earlier this month that its Thailand-based subsidiary had secured a $10.5 million deal to perform insulation works at Inpex’s Ichthys LNG plant in Darwin, while last month subsidiary AGC Industries won a $13.6 million extension to a fabrication deal at Gorgon.
The company is also in the midst of rolling all of its subsidiaries into one entity, AGC Australia, which will be listed on the ASX.
