Artists battle over reef

THE battle to develop a $200 million resort at Mauds Landing on the Ningaloo Reef could well be billed as a stoush between two of WA’s premier artists.

Author Tim Winton and painter Robert Juniper have spoken out over the development, but are taking different sides of the debate.

Mr Winton recently donated the $20,000 he won in the WA Premier’s Book Awards to the Save Ningaloo campaign.

He said the he wanted his children to enjoy the wonders of Coral Bay, just as he had.

Mr Juniper is a long-time friend of Ken Ryan, who is often credited with coming up with the idea for the resort.
