Marshall heads RFDS
The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (Western Operations) has appointed Grahame Marshall as its chief executive officer, commencing June 2011. Mr Marshall is currently the Territory Insurance Office general manager banking and distribution, and has previously worked in a range of senior management roles, including at Westpac, Electricity Trust of SA, Lynch Meyer Lawyers and WorkCover SA. He is currently the deputy chair of the RFDS (Central Operations) board, and will replace current CEO Tim Shackleton, who leaves to develop his own health services management advisory business.
Cook to BDO
Accounting and advisory network BDO has appointed Simon Cook as a partner in the Perth corporate finance team, where he will head corporate finance services to the SME market, including sale of business advice, business valuations and acquisition due diligence. Mr Cook was previously an associate principal at Crowe Horwath leading their corporate finance team. He also specialises in the provision of litigation support and forensic services in relation to dispute resolution.
Veev Group recruits North
Business consulting firm Veev Group, which has recently launched in Perth with contracts in the oil and gas industry, has appointed Steve North as director and partner in charge of business continuity. Mr North was previously general manager, advisory services at L7 Solutions and has created and tested business continuity plans for many Perth organisations and government departments.
Lavan Legal expands team
Law firm Lavan Legal has appointed Delara Sarban and Beth Lee as solicitors in litigation and property services, respectively. Ms Sarban specialises in media law, defamation and litigation, and was previously at Edwards Wallace. Ms Lee specialises in commercial property law, and was previously at Blake Dawson in Canberra.
Hafford joins Slater and Gordon
Law firm Slater and Gordon has appointed Karina Hafford to its Perth office as group practice leader specialising in medical negligence law. Ms Hafford was previously branch manager and associate at Shine Lawyers, and before that was a senior associate at Ilberys Lawyers.
Davies joins NextGen
Wayne Davies has been appointed as director of financial advisory practice consultancy NextGen Succession Strategies. Mr Davies was previously general manager Australasia at activpayroll and state operations manager WA at Shadforth Financial Group. At NextGen he will focus on releasing business owners from the operational aspects of their business by building the management and leadership capabilities required for eventual succession.
van den Berg to Allawdocs
Nick van den Berg has been appointed business development manager at Allawdocs, an online legal documentation service. Mr van den Berg was previously relationship manager at St George Bank and prior to that, associate relationship manager at ANZ.
Brooklyn joins People Who Care
Kim Brooklyn has been appointed as operations manager at People Who Care, a not-for-profit volunteer organisation that provides services to the aged, people with disabilities, carers and others with special needs. Ms Brooklyn has 13 years’ experience with redeveloping programs, sustainability reviews, social enterprise and fundraising in the not-for-profit sector.
Chalmers replaces Buck at Paladin
Uranium miner Paladin Energy has appointed Mark Chalmers as executive general manager – production, following the resignation of Wyatt Buck from the position. Mr Buck has decided to depart the uranium sector, taking a senior role with a company focused on other commodities. Mr Chalmers was previously the managing director of Uranium Equities, and has also worked for Energy Fuels Nuclear, Cameco and Healthgate.
