Visser joins METS
Specialist consulting group Mineral Engineering Technical Services has appointed John Visser as METS metallurgical manager. Mr Visser has more than 37 years’ experience in mining, principally in the ferrous metals commodities, and was previously principal adviser at Rio Tinto and principal process engineer at GRD Minproc.
Curtis promoted at Drilline
Geoff Curtis has been promoted to general manager at Drilline, which provides pipeline services across all industrial sectors. Mr Curtis was previously the business development manager. As part of the company’s expansion, Drilline has also appointed a Kalgoorlie based area manager, Steve Gillett, formerly of Downer EDI Engineering.
OMD recruits Pinney
Media agency OMD WA has appointed Mark Pinney as head of strategy. Mr Pinney was previously the director of channel planning at branding agency Meerkats and has spent 12 years in media, full service, and media owner roles.
Sandford joins IRDI Legal
Law firm IRDI Legal has appointed Margaret Sandford as senior lawyer, as part of the firm’s growth in commercial and property law. Ms Sandford previously owned her own consultancy business.
Corner heads Ikon
Erin Corner has been appointed as managing director of media agency Ikon Perth. She was previously group account director at The Brand Agency, whose media department was spun off to become Maxus before being rebranded as Ikon last year.
Banzic heads to KordaMentha
Alex Banzic has been appointed as an associate director to head the Perth property team at insolvency and restructuring practitioner KordaMentha. He was previously head of the WA office for EG Funds Management and currently serves as chairman of the ALP (WA) International Affairs policy committee.
Partington to HHG Legal
Darian Partington has been appointed as senior lawyer, private client services at HHG Legal group, bringing a commercial and strategic focus to the family law and estate planning teams. Mr Partington was previously principal of a boutique private practice in South Australia.
New managers at FerrAus
Iron ore miner FerrAus has appointed Brett Hazelden as a project director. His previous activities include project management, feasibility study evaluation, engineering and design, estimating and financial evaluation, with Newcrest, Fluor and Rio Tinto. Jason Hyde, formerly deputy project manager at BHP Billiton’s RGP5 rail project, has been appointed as study manager, while Diane Dowdell, formerly group manager – environment at FMG, has been appointed as environment and land access manager.
Haywood joins CME’s RITC
Project manager Nigel Haywood has been appointed as an executive officer with the Resources Industry Training Council, which is a state government-funded joint venture between the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy and the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association. Mr Haywood was previously chief executive officer at the Civil Contractors Federation.
