Allen & Overy appoints Jones
Energy and resources lawyer Angus Jones will join Allen & Overy’s global energy group, based in its Perth office. Mr Jones was previously at Allens Arthur Robinson where he has been a partner since 1997.
Curtin appoints Fong to key position
Neale Fong, former director general of the Western Australian Health Department, has been appointed director of Curtin University’s Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute.
ew CFO at Woodside
Lawrie Tremaine has been appointed deputy chief financial officer of Woodside. He will succeed Mark Chatterji as CFO from the end of 2010. Mr Tremaine is currently vice-president, treasury and taxation, at Woodside and has spent 20 years in senior finance roles at Alcoa and Woodside.
Eldridge joins Sundance
Sundance has recruited Barry Eldridge as a director on its board. Some of Mr Eldridge’s most notable roles include project manager for the Super Pit in Kalgoorlie, project manager for the development of Kanowna Belle gold mine, managing director of Forrestania Gold, project director for Rio Tinto’s West Angelas iron ore development, managing director of Griffin Coal, CEO of Portman and Chairman of SNC-Lavalin Australia.
Belladonna Western Areas CFO
Joseph Belladonna will replace the late Craig Oliver as Western Areas' chief financial officer. Mr Oliver was involved in last month’s air crash in Africa. Mr Belladonna has worked for the company for five years, initially as group accountant, then financial controller and company secretary.
Allen, Nicol to RSM Bird Cameron
RSM Bird Cameron has appointed Michael Allen (far right) and Peter Nicol as principals. Mr Allen is with the firm's corporate finance division and advises clients on strategic, control and acquisition/due diligence reviews, feasibility preparation, business valuations and debt and equity financing. Mr Nicol is with the firm’s superannuation solutions division.
Mannolini, Martin’s Gresham moves
Gresham Partners has promoted executive director and head of office Justin Mannolini (far right) to the position of managing director, Perth. Associate director Darren Martin (above) has been promoted to the position of division director. Gresham also announced that associate director Chris Branston has returned to the Perth office following a successful stint in Sydney, and that Peter Chong will join the office as analyst.
Bridson joins Avon
Australian minerals company Avalon Minerals has appointed mining executive Paul Bridson to the position of CFO effective immediately. Mr Bridson was most recently financial controller at Gindalbie Metals since 2001.
Ferraro MD of Doral Minerals
Doral Mineral Industries has appointed Mike Ferraro as managing director. Mr Ferraro was previously in the role of general manager of Doral’s mineral sands business and has more than 25 years’ experience in the resources industry including the majority in senior operational and technical roles.
Hobley Alinta executive GM
Alinta Energy has appointed Geoff Hobley (right) as executive general manger in Western Australia. Mr Hobley’s promotion follows seven years at Alinta. During this time, he has held a range of senior roles, most recently manger supply. Mr Hobley will replace Zeki Akbas, who leaves Alinta to take up an offshore position.
Martin to develop at Credo
Credo Group has appointed Paul Martin to the position of business development manager – mining construction and maintenance. Mr Martin started with Credo in 2007 and was originally employed to look after the industrial sector in Perth’s southern suburbs.
New position for Twine
Former Stocker Preston Group marketing manager Sarah Twine has been appointed to work with the company’s managing director in a newly created role to service a broad range of property dealings in the South West. Ms Twine has been with the company for more than six years and led the marketing department through a multiple merger.
PWC partner promotions
PwC has appointed Paul Hennessy, a director in the Perth Advisory Transactions team, and Rob Bentley, a director in the Perth Corporate Tax team, to the position of partner. PwC has also transferred four specialist partners to WA. Wayne Huf relocated from Qld, Darren Carlton relocated from Melbourne in the past six months, Nick Brasington will relocate from Moscow and Garrick Robinson from Melbourne in July.
Henneveld’s national role
Main Roads Western Australia managing director Menno Henneveld has been appointed chair of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator project board – part of the federal government’s wider reform program to reduce the compliance burden for business and make it easier for businesses to operate across state and territory borders.
