Changes in the Stirling board
Stirling Resources has appointed a new chairman and acting chief executive following the resignation of executive chairman Michael Kiernan (pictured) and non-executive director James Kiernan. David Nabarro, a non-executive director, has been appointed as chairman. Prior to joining Stirling, Mr Nabarro worked as a financier in the City of London for nearly 40 years. Marty Adams has been appointed acting CEO. Mr Adams has held operational and senior management positions in open pit and underground operations.
Jones appointed to Gindalbie
Gindalbie Metals has appointed George Jones as a non-executive chairman, effective immediately. Mr Jones replaces Geoff Wedlock, who tragically passed away in an aircraft crash in West Africa last week. Mr Jones has been a director of Gindalbie since 2005.
New role for Hill at SKM
Sinclair Knight Merz has appointed Patrick Hill as general manager, power and energy. Mr Hill was previously regional manager, Western Australia/Northern Territory. Mr Hill also previously managed the integration and leadership of SKM’s three Water & Environment Operation Centres.
Clayton Utz appoints new partner
Clayton Utz has promoted Nick Cooper to the partnership. Mr Cooper, who joined the firm in 2004, is a commercial litigator specialising in regulatory work, insurance, contractual disputes and medical defence.
Hamilton MD at Geodynamics
Jack Hamilton, former head of Woodside's North West Shelf project and a non-executive director since 2006, will immediately assume the role of managing director for an interim period for Brisbane-based Geodynamics. Keith Spence has been appointed chairman elect. Mr Spence had assumed the role of deputy chairman following last years AGM. Mr Spence was previously executive vice president enterprise capability for Woodside.
Bowen to institute board
The Western Australian Institute for Medical Research has appointed Terry Bowen to its board of directors. Mr Bowen has held the position of finance director at Wesfarmers since May last year and was previously the finance director of Coles and the inaugural chief financial officer for Jetstar Airways. He is also a director of Gresham Partners Holdings and the Western Australian Opera Company Inc.
Adams Pilbara Cities GM
Chris Adams has been appointed general manager of the state government's new Pilbara Cities office. Mr Adams has been the chief executive officer for the Town of Port Hedland since 2005. He was previously chief executive officer for the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley.
Kennedy takes Leukaemia post
The Leukaemia Foundation has appointed Georgia Kennedy to the role of fundraising manager. Ms Kennedy has spent the past six years working in the not-for-profit sector, most recently with the Asthma Foundation of WA as its fundraising and events manager.
Hagan helping blind
The Association for the Blind of WA - Guide Dogs WA has appointed Tony Hagan as director of corporate development. Mr Hagan will replace Mary Henry in this position. He was formerly sales and marketing manager with Multi Direct. Mr Hagan became involved with the Association for the Blind of WA - Guide Dogs WA in the late 1980s and was elected as a board member in 1992.
Legal moves on
TottlePartners has appointed Geoff Bourhill as a partner. Mr Bourhill's most recent role was with Lavan Legal where he has been a partner for 22 years. Blake Dawson has appointed Jean Bursle as a partner in its resources and energy practice in Perth. Ms Bursle joined the firm in 1999 and was a senior associate until 2008 when she established her own consultancy practice. Minter Ellison Lawyers has appointed Amber Keating (pictured) as partner, Jarod Benson (pictured) as special council and Nada Raphael as senior associate.
New role for Beaton
Michael Beaton has joined Willis Temby Insurance Brokers (WA) as an executive director. Mr Beaton recently worked for Willis Australia as the senior corporate broker and has more than 21 years' experience in the insurance industry, specialising in marine and general insurance.
DeVaney joins Committee for Perth
Holly DeVaney has joined the Committee for Perth as manager research and communications. Ms DeVaney has a strong background in communication and most recently held the position of manager government relations at Curtin University.
