Alciaturi resigns from Macquarie
Martin Alciaturi has quit Macquarie Bank to take an in-house role with Aquila Resources as general manager, finance and corporate. Mr Alciaturi joined Macquarie in 2006 as head of corporate finance in WA, having spent the past decade as head of Ernst & Young's transaction advisory division in Perth. In the past 12 months the Perth Macquarie team has been bolstered by the return of Craig Carter and the arrival of Michael Ashforth.
New chair at Condor Nickel and Carrick
Ian Burston has been appointed company chairman of Condor Nickel and Carrick Gold following the death of Frank Carr earlier this month. Mr Burston was the former Cape Lambert Limited chairman and Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold chief executive.
AACL managing director resigns
Agricultural investment company AACL Holdings has announced managing director Andrew McBain resigned amid questions about the company's financial viability. Mr McBain's resignation comes one week after AACL announced that negotiations with CBH Grain over a crucial $50 million wholesale funding deal had gone awry.
Former FMG exec to chair Indo Mines
Former Fortescue Metals Group senior executive Chris Catlow has been appointed non-executive chairman of Indo Mines. He was the inaugural chief financial officer at FMG. Darryl Harris, who has stepped down from the position of chairman, will remain on the board as a non-executive director. Former Western Australian senator Andrew Murray has been appointed chair of the Western Australian Regional Development Trust. Regional Development and Lands Minister Brendon Grylls also announced the appointment of three other trust members: Sue Middleton, Australian Rural Woman of the Year 2010; Tim Shanahan, Pilbara Development Commission chair; and Paul Rosair, director general of the Department of Regional Development and Lands.
New venture for Rule
Phil Rule has recently bought Marvic Packaging Australia and taken on the role of managing director. Previously he was head of institutional and corporate banking for CBA in WA, and a senior banker in Sydney with Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Standard Chartered and ANZ. Marvic is a national business servicing the packaging needs of many of Australia’s iconic brands and businesses as well as the SME market.
King sees Neptune opportunity
Neptune Marine Services has appointed Robin King as regional vice-president for Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, based in Perth. Mr King joins Neptune from Technip, where he held the dual role of CEO of Subsea 7 Asia Pacific and senior vice-president Subsea (Asia Pacific) of Technip Oceania. Mr King brings 27 years’ industry experience to his new role.
Johnson resigns from planning
Charles Johnson has resigned from his position as executive director (strategic policy and research) with the Department of Planning and will be joining TPG Town Planning & Urban Design. Mr Johnson and Katrina Elliott, formerly with Syme Marmion and Co, will establish a research, policy and governance business unit within TPG.
King to Apex
Apex Minerals has appointed mining executive Allan King as chief operating officer. Mr King, who is currently general manager, operations at Resolute Mining, has held several senior positions across a diverse range of companies and commodities. His previous posts include general manager, mining at LionOre in Australia, state manager, mining at Thiess Contracting, general manager at Nifty Copper, mining manager at KCGM and resident manager at WMC’s St Ives Gold Project.
van Noort takes up CME post
The Chamber of Minerals and Energy has appointed Erin van Noort as South West executive officer. The new role will be based out of CME’s revamped Bunbury office. Ms van Noort has extensive experience in the resource sector – particularly in the South West, most recently with Worsley Alumina.
Kidd, Ganley at Realmark
Realmark Real Estate has appointed Bobbie Kidd and Sheree Ganley to the team. Ms Kidd comes to Realmark’s Applecross office as licensed field assistant. Ms Kidd has trained in other well-known real estate firms after leaving a long career in school education. Realmark’s Floreat office has appointed Ms Ganley as agency administrator, with several years of administration and property management experience behind her.
Jordon goes to Integro
Lisa Jordon has been appointed client manager for Subiaco-based Integro Private Financial Consulting. Ms Jordon has more than 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry, previously working for Hartleys, ANZ and National Australia Bank.
