Brockman appointment for Cusack
Australian iron ore company Brockman Resources Limited has announced the appointment of prominent Australian businessman and former Rio Tinto Australia managing director Barry Cusack as non-executive chairman. Mr Cusack has held a number of key executive roles with Rio Tinto. He has also held numerous high profile board positions, most recently as chairman of OZ Minerals. Brockman’s founding chairman Ross Norgard will assume the role of deputy chairman.
Southern Cross gets High
Former Clough executive vice president Simon High has been appointed managing director of Southern Cross Electrical Engineering. Mr High has over 30 years experience in many aspects of the resources industry on a global basis. Mr High has proven experience in CAPEX and OPEX contracting roles where he has been responsible for the execution of global projects, both on and offshore.
Hawkins new MD for Aspen
Aspen Group has replaced its managing director Angelo Del Borrello with executive director Gavin Hawkins effective immediately. Aspen's chairman Reg Gillard said the change followed significant consultation between the board and the executive management team. “The change reflects what the board believes to be the appropriate executive structure to take the group forward,” Mr Gillard said.
Honours for three WA executives
Rio Tinto boss Sam Walsh, Oakajee Port and Rail chief executive John Langoulant and former Rio Tinto executive Ian Williams were among several Western Australians to be honoured on Monday’s Queen's Birthday Honours list.
Komninos, Hutchinson reappointed
National accounting firm RSM Bird Cameron has reappointed Kim Hutchinson as national chairman and James Komninos as managing partner, Perth. Mr Hutchinson has been chairman since 2000 and is responsible for the management and strategic direction of the firm. Mr Komninos was reappointed for a second three-year term and will continue to oversee the strategic direction of the firm's Perth office. Mr Komninos is also a partner in the firm's Assurance and Advisory services division.

Barrister Ronald Birmingham QC has been appointed a judge of the District Court of Western Australia following the retirement of Judge Antoinette Kennedy and appointment of Peter Martino as chief judge of the court.
Robson to head worldwide network
University of Western Australia vicechancellor Alan Robson has been appointed chair of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) board. The WUN is a partnership of 16 researchfocuseduniversities, based in Europe, North America, China, New Zealand and Australia. Professor Robson is also chair of Australia's Group of Eight leading research universities and deputy chair of Universities Australia.
Hewitt manages at Conquest
David Hewitt has been appointed senior exploration manager at Conquest Mining. Mr Hewitt was formerly the senior geologist based in Townsville with Gold Fields Australasia and managed the exploration carried out by Gold Fields at the Mt Carlton regional joint venture.

McAullay joins VenuesWest board
Ken McAullay has joined the board of VenuesWest. Mr McAullay has 40 years of experience in corporate services. The general manager of corporate services for the Insurance Commission of Western Australia, He has also been corporate secretary to the ICWA board for the past 20 years.
Adcock joins The Birchman Group
