Henderson role at CSIRO
Michael Henderson has been appointed to CSIRO’s national Information, Communications and Services Sector Advisory Council. Until recently, Mr Henderson was the chair of Western Australia’s Technology Industry Advisory Council, which was closed earlier in the year by (then) treasurer Troy Buswell. Mr Henderson currently chairs the state Centre of Excellence for microphotonic systems, and the International Skills & Training Institute in Health, and is executive chairman of Sandover Pinder architects.
Tap’s Stickland gives notice
Tap Oil managing director Peter Stickland has given notice to the board that, due to family reasons, he does not intend to renew his employment agreement. Tap Oil and Mr Stickland have agreed to a 12-month notice period to enable the company to replace him with minimum disruption to business activities while at the same time meeting his desire to relocate his family back to Victoria.
Tenardi resigns from Bauxite
Bauxite Resources managing director Dan Tenardi has resigned. Mr Tenardi held the position for 18 months. The company has commenced the search for a suitable replacement for Mr Tenardi. In the interim, current chairman Barry Carbon will act in the role left vacant by Mr Tenardi’s departure.
Bradley communicates at APPEA
The Australian Petroleum & Exploration association has appointed Michael Bradley to the role of communications director. Most recently, Mr Bradley has spent more than two years as the media adviser to federal Resources and Energy Minister Martin Ferguson. Mr Bradley has alsospent a number of years working with The Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and as the communications manager for Falls Creek Resort Management. Now based in Canberra, he will be responsible for APPEA's media strategy, liaison, management andmarketing.
Mok joins Pitcher
Pitcher Partners has appointed Leon Mok as associate director of its tax division. Mr Mok has more than 13 years of tax consulting experience, most recently at Deloitte in Melbourne. He practices in the area of corporate and international taxation and has advised on a broad range of domestic and crossborder transactions.
Bates' festival role
The Perth International Arts Festival has appointed Madeline Bates to the role of program manager, film. Ms Bates has come from the Edinburgh International Film Festival, where she was the head of Screenings for the 2010 festival.
Wicks on Tourism WA board
Mirvac Hotels and Resorts regional general manager WA, Stephen Wicks, will join Tourism WA's board for a twoyear appointment. Mr Wicks is is an adjunct professor with the University of Queensland's School of Tourism, and a member of the Tourism Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA.
Stuart sold on Skywest
Tourism and transport industry professional Alan Stuart has joined Skywest Airlines as its new general manager sales and marketing. He has 20 years' industry experience across public and private sectors, including senior roles with Qantas, Serco and Great Southern Railway.
Webster to Sphere
Sphere Minerals has appointed David Webster as chief operating officer. Prior to his appointment, Mr Webster worked from 2006 with Ferrexpo holding the positions of chief operating officer and chief projects officer. He also spent five years as project director with ProMet and before that 25 years with BHP Billiton.
Zongo strengthens Golden Rim team
Golden Rim Resources has appointed Richard Zongo, geologist, as country manager in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Mr Zongo has worked for more than 20 years throughout West Africa, including 14 years as country manager with publicly listed Canadian and Australian exploration companies. Golden Rim, one of the largest licence holders in Mali, has been actively working to expand its footprint in West Africa. The company has bought 12 gold exploration permits in Burkina Faso.
Agars, Brzeski set Precedent
Consultant Rachel Agars and developer Paul Brzeski have joined the strategic digitalcommunications agency, Precedent, in its new Perth office. With more than 20 years ofexperience and a team of 70, the company has offices in London, Cardiff and Edinburgh. Sean Gardiner and Stina Frantzich Gardiner are heading up the office in Perth.
