New chair for Bannerman
Bannerman Resources non-executive director David Smith has been promoted to the role of chairman. Dr Smith, who joined the Bannerman board in late 2009, will work closely with Bannerman’s Perth-based management team to complete the definitive feasibility study for the Etango uranium project in Namibia. He has more than 30 years’ experience in technical, operational and senior management roles with Rio Tinto. He is also on the boards of Atlas Iron and Macmahon Holdings.
Boart names new chairman
Dave McLemore will succeed Graham Bradley as Boat Longyear’s new chairman in August. Mr Bradley informed shareholders at the company’s AGM this week of his intention to retire from the board. His move followed a shareholder revolt over the company’s remuneration report. Mr McLemore has been a director at Boart since early 2007 and has been involved with Advent International for eight years on investments including the company’s acquisition of Boart from Anglo American in 2005.
Smith joins AHG
Automotive Holdings Group has appointed prominent director Michael Smith to its board. In addition to operating a strategy consultancy firm, Black House, Mr Smith chairs energy retailer Synergy, internet service provider iiNet and the Perth International Arts Festival. He is also a director of 7-Eleven stores and vice president of the Australian Institute of Company Directors WA. His previous positions include chairman of the West Coast Eagles and director of Home Building Society, Allied Insurance Brokers and Allied Lease Brokers.Smith to chair Bannerman
The board of Bannerman Resources has announced the appointment of non-executive director David Smith as chairman, with immediate effect. Dr Smith, who joined the Bannerman board in November 2009, will work closely with Bannerman's Perth-based management team to complete the definitive feasibility study for the company's Etango uranium project. Dr Smith has more than 30 years' experience in technical, operational and senior management roles with the Rio Tinto organisation. He is also a non-executive director of WA iron ore producer Atlas Iron and Australian mine and construction contracting group Macmahon Holdings.
Urquhart a fellow at Leeds*
Market research and strategic planning practice Marketing Focus managing director, Barry Urquhart, has accepted an invitation from the Leeds Metropolitan University (UK) to be a visiting fellow at the Leeds Business School. He will address students and local Leeds Business Leaders during a tour in November. Mr Urquhart is author of six books, his latest title is Marketing Magic - Streetsmart Marketing. He is also a regular commentator of consumer issues on ABC radio and contributes articles to 47 magazines around the world.
Ferguson's Peak decision
Peak Well Services has appointed Stuart Ferguson as a special adviser. Mr Ferguson recently left Weatherford International, where he had been an executive officer since 2002. During his time at Weatherford he served in a number of roles, including senior vice-president for reservoir and production, chief technology officer, and divisional president for completion systems.
Sawyer joins TIS Recruitment
Mark Sawyer has recently joined TIS Recruitment and will take up the post of national manager of business development. His previous roles include business development manager at AGC Ausgroup. TIS Recruitment has offices in both Kalgoorlie and Rockingham, which offer professional, specialist support to the mining, resources and oil and gas industries.

Woodward's Advanced role
Advanced Geomechanics in Nedlands has appointed Marc Woodward as senior principal. Advanced Geomechanics is a specialist geotechnical consultancy with a team of 30 that has successfully focused on offshore geotechnical work for the oil and gas sector. Mr Woodward joins the company with 30 years' experience in onshore civil-geotechnical engineering contracting and consulting.
Hardy to Leukaemia Foundation
The Leukaemia Foundation has announced the appointment of Chelsea Hardy as manager of marketing and communications. Having worked in marketing, journalism and events, Ms Hardy brings a range of skills and media experience to develop and champion the brand and image of the Leukaemia Foundation and manage the foundation's state media and communications strategy.
Hutton, Fletcher new Breakaway roles
Breakaway Resources CEO and exploration manager, David Hutton has been appointed to the board as managing director to focus on the broader strategic development of the company, while Mark Fletcher has joined Breakaway as exploration manager. Mr Fletcher has more than 17 years of nickel, gold and base metal exploration experience, including 12 years with WMC and BHP Billiton where he was part of the nickel exploration team.
Pyvis' Patersons post
Patersons Securities has appointed Richard Pyvis as a nonexecutive director. Mr Pyvis is executive chairman of Hong Kong-based CLSA Capital Partners, the alternative asset management arm of CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets. CLSA is majority owned by Crédit Agricole, France's largest retailbanking group, and is the largest and most highly rated independent stock broking and financial services group in Asia. Mr Pyvis has held previous senior executive rolesincluding positions at Westpac in Australia and Japan,and the Royal Bank of Canada in Canada. He joins former ASX director Brendan Egan and Brunei Investment Agency managing director Amin Abdullah as non-executive directors of Patersons.
Decmil Australia changes
Decmil Australia has made several changes to its executive and management teams. Tom Fallon has been appointed as general manager, and will be responsible for continuing the growth and development at the company. Most recently, Mr Fallon was national operations manager for Leed Engineering. Craig Rydquist has been appointed business development manager and will be responsible for building and cementing relations with current clients and establishing new business contacts within the resource, construction and public sectors. Chris Ashton, who has worked within Decmil as a project manager since November 2008, has been promoted to construction manager. As project manager, Mr Ashton managed Decmil's activities on Pluto LNG Project. In his new role, he will oversee all Decmil's project work across WA.
McGown to Marengo Mining
Craig McGown will fill the newly created position of vice-president in corporate development at Marengo Mining. With the Yandera Project DFS due for completion in December 2010, Mr McGown will assist the company develop and implement funding strategies for the future development of the project. Mr McGown has more than 35 years' experience in corporate finance, covering mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings in both domestic and international financial markets, asset acquisitions and asset disposals, initial public offerings and corporate restructurings. Mr McGown has also served on the boards of a number of listed and unlisted companies including Resource Finance Corporation as an executive director.
