Iancov joins AbaF
DORIC Group chief executive Peter Iancov has become a councillor of the Australia Business Arts Foundation. He joins a blue chip group that includes Woodside Petroleum CEO Don Voelte, Wesfarmers managing director Richard Goyder, Rio Tinto Iron Ore chief executive Sam Walsh and BankWest group managing director Jon Sutton.
New Western Power chairman
The co-founderof investment bank Azure Capital Mark Barnaba has been appointed as the new chairman of the Western Power board, replacing Peter Mansell. Mr Barnaba has extensive knowledge of WA’s energy needs, having previously held the position of deputy chairman of the Western Power board. He was also the inaugural chairman of Alinta Infrastructure Holdings and is currently the chairman of the West Coast Eagles.
Foodbank WA appoints Nisbett
West Coast Eagles chief executive Trevor Nisbett has joined the Foodbank WA Board. Foodbank WA chairman Mark Crumby said the appointment had come at an important time for the organisation, embarking on a major capital program to improve service, capability and coverage for all community agencies across the state.
Hamilton new OZ Minerals chairman
The board of OZ Minerals has unanimously elected Neil Hamilton as its new chairman following the retirement of Barry Cusack from the position. Mr Hamilton was named by OZ Minerals in February as the likely replacement for Mr Cusack. Mr Hamilton is currently chairman of Mount Gibson Iron, Northern Iron and a director of Metcash.
New Linc chairman*
Marketing and communications agency, Linc, has appointed Debra Tarabini-East as chairman of the board. Ms Tarabini-East brings 20 years' experience and has worked across a broad range of industries including CEO of Wellard Capital. More recently she has worked as a consultant to industry, charities, various committees and boards specialising in strategic direction, change and innovation management and restructures.
New consultants join ACIL Tasman **
Economics consultancy ACIL Tasman has appointed John Roberts and Nick Wills-Johnson. Mr Roberts has rejoined the Perth office after three years as project director of the water legislation reform program at the WA Department of Water. He has 35 years' experience in water policy, industry development, science and technology and agriculture.
Mr Wills-Johnson has joined the Perth office from the position of senior research fellow at Curtin University, where he undertook industry-funded research examining the impacts of competition policy on railway investment in Australia. He has been involved in consultancy projects in competition policy and infrastructure and industry policy-related fields in Australia and overseas.
Amana Living appointment**
Zenith Zeeman has joined aged and community care provider Amana Living as general manager, clinical and operational support, following his long-standing senior career at the Fremantle mental health service.
Victoria Siepen has been appointed the new general manager of human resources for Amana. Ms Siepen joins the organisation after working in human resources for Rio Tinto for the previous two years, and brings with her more than 20 years of experience in the HR field.
Double METS appointments **
Perth metallurgical consultancy, METS, has made two new appointments. Bruce Messenger has joined the METS process division as senior process engineer. With more than 32 years' experience, Mr Messenger's expertise is primarily in nickel/cobalt refining and iron ore fines production. Edin Kokorovic has joined the engineering division as lead mechanical engineer. With 14 years of experience, Ms Kokorovic has been involved in mainly wet processing but also in dry material handling areas within the minerals processing industry, particularly in iron ore, gold, nickel and chromite operations.
Sheather to develop business
The Australian government and key players in the business events sector have appointed Julie Sheather to head the new joint industry-government initiative to increase the number and size of international association conventions being held in Australia. Ms Sheather has been appointed to lead the delivery of the targeted association's strategy following its launch earlier this month by Tourism Australia, The Association of Australian Convention Bureaux and major convention centres across the country.
Dewar to Wrays *
Paul Dewar has joined Wrays Lawyers as special counsel, specialising in intellectual property litigation. Mr Dewar was formerly a senior associate at Blake Dawson. He has a particular interest in patent litigation and is presently working on a very large Federal Court (Sydney) pharmaceutical patent revocation action.
Mid West committee
The first meeting of the Mid West Regional Planning Committee will be held following the appointment of its inaugural members by the Western Australian Planning Commission. The chairman of the WAPC, Gary Prattley, will chair the committee, which consists of members including community affairs representative Terry Thiemt, councillor John Sewell from the City of Geraldton-Greenough, and shire president Nino Messina from the Shire of Mullewa, who will be representing the interests of local government. Government agency appointments have also been made including Sean Collingwood (Department of Planning), Gail McGowan (Department of State Development), Michael Rowe (Department of Regional Development and Lands), Kelly Gillen (Department of Environment and Conservation), Ivor Roberts (Department of Mines and Petroleum), and Steve Douglas (Mid West Development Commission).
