Kennedy to Balance
Balance Legal has appointed Andrew Kennedy as a director. Mr Kennedy was formerly with Freehills and has a broad commercial background specialising in workplace relations and commercial dispute management. Since joining Balance Legal he has developed the workplace advisory and dispute management practice group and expanded the secondment business.
AICD WA Council gains Gaines
The Australian Institute of Company Directors has appointed Alison Gaines to its WA division council. Ms Gaines has extensive experience in the corporate governance field; leading the board consulting practice at Gerard Daniels. She was CEO of the Law Society of Western Australia for nine years.
Bulpitt managing at Sebel Mandurah
The Sebel Mandurah has appointed Bronwyn Bulpitt as general manager. Ms Bulpitt will be responsible for all operational aspects of the hotel and will oversee accommodation, events, leisure facilities and the sales and marketing functions for the property. She joins Mirvac Hotels & Resorts with 20 years’ experience in the industry having worked at various hotel chains including the CDL Hotels Group, Heritage Hotel Group in New Zealand and Duxton Hotels.
Farquharson’s Gemcom role
Gemcom Software International has appointed Ben Farquharson as director of the company’s Minex business unit. Mr Farquharson has been promoted to the role of director, transitioning from his position as sales manager of the company’s Asia Pacific territory. He has more than 15 years of experience in senior sales executive and management roles for various companies including Telstra.
Muir’s strategic move
St John of God Health Care has appointed Janet Muir as its group manager strategic development to spearhead the organisation’s ongoing strategy of mergers and acquisitions, most recently in NZ. Ms Muir was initially employed by the organisation in 1995 and has worked in finance and business analysis roles for St John of God Pathology WA, subsequently moving to a similar role at St John of God Hospital Bunbury. She has a wealth of commercial, financial and health industry experience and is a chartered accountant and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Kimberley Planning Committee
Western Australian Planning Commission chairman Gary Prattley will chair the new Kimberley Regional Planning Committee along with Derby/West Kimberley councillor Jack Burton, who has been appointed community affairs representative. Broome shire president Graeme Campbell and Wyndham-East Kimberley shire president Fred Mills will represent the interests of local government.
Mason leads Arup
Arup has appointed Allan Mason as Perth office leader. Specialising in the planning of road and freeway access solutions, public transport planning and special event planning, he has worked on a number of major international projects including the transportation operational planning for host cities of the 2010 Soccer World Cup and the Oakajee strategic freight rail corridor assessment.
Witham group geologist
William Witham, who had been acting in a consulting capacity to the board of Australia Minerals & Mining Group, has been appointed to the position of group geologist. Mr Witham has held the position of managing director and exploration manager for Australian mining companies such as DMC Mining, Windy Knob Resources, Mount Isa Mines and Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission.
Tyler takes Pritchard Francis role
Chris Tyler has been appointed associate director of consulting engineering firm, Pritchard Francis. A chartered structural engineer, Mr Taylor has a broad range of experience, including large-scale commercial, government, mining and industrial projects. He was the first Green Star Accredited structural engineer in WA, and has overseen research into sustainable construction at The University of Western Australia.
Port Kennedy board
Phil Edman has been appointed as the new chair of the Port Kennedy Management Board. Mr Edman, Member for South Metropolitan Region, replaces Bill Thomas, who chaired the board from 2002 to 2009. Lou D’Alessandro joins the board as the representative of the developer, Western Australia Beach and Golf Resort. Brendan Dooley is the environment minister’s nominee, while Bob Goodale has been appointed to represent the Conservation Council of WA.
Clark to Heritage Council.
The Heritage Council of Western Australia has appointed Match managing director Lloyd Clark to replace Norman Etherington. In addition, there have been four reappointments to the council: Real Estate Institute of WA chief executive Anne Arnold; National Trust WA vice-president David Dolan; WA Local Government Association representative and City of Armadale councillor, Henry Zelones; and architect Philip Griffiths. The council is chaired by Marion Fulker, former chief executive officer of the Committee for Perth.
Avalon for Munckton
Avalon Minerals has appointed senior mining executive Andrew Munckton to the newly created position of general manager – operations. Mr Munckton was most recently general manager of operations with Gindalbie Metals. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the mining industry, holding a range of senior positions including general manager of the Paddington, Kundana and Kanowna Belle Gold Operations for Goldfields, Aurion Gold and Placer Dome.
