Thick, Wong at IRDI
Susan Thick, formerly of Allens Arthur Robinson, has been appointed to IRDI Legal as knowledge manager - senior lawyer. Ms Thick will draw on 25 years of commercial law experience, with 12 years' knowledge management specialisation in driving IRDI's technology and information capabilities. Belinda Wong (above right), formerly of Marks and Sands Lawyers, has joined IRDI as a commercial litigation lawyer.
New partner at Jarman McKenna
Jarman McKenna has welcomed new partner, Penny Moore (formerly of Lavan Legal) and solicitors Bree Buxton and Joanne Wakely. Ms Moore is a former member of the Western Australian branch executive committee of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance. Her experience includes being appointed as barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, the High Court of Australia, and Phillips Fox. She specialises in work for the Insurance Commission of Western Australia and other interstate third party insurers.
New role for Walsh
RCR Tomlinson has appointed Andrew Walsh as chief financial officer. Mr Walsh has more than 20 years' experience in the international financial arena having held senior finance and executive roles in project-based companies covering, defence, manufacturing and oil and gas. Following the appointment of Mr Walsh, Garry Ramse, who has been acting in the position of CFO, will return to his role as general manager corporate services.
Wilson moves within CME
The Chamber of Minerals & Energy of Western Australia have appointed current membership and marketing executive officer, Danni Wilson, as acting head of media and public affairs, pending the recruitment of a media and public affairs professional following the departure of David Ikin.
New position at Strut
Strut Dance has appointed Jenifer Leys in the newly created position of producer. The position was formed in response to the state government's Future Moves investment; a strategic initiative to develop and vitalise contemporary dance in Western Australia. Ms Leys' most recent position was working within the Tours and Projects Department of one of the world's leading arts management agencies, Askonas Holt Ltd in the UK. Prior to this, Ms Leys worked at Black Swan Theatre in various positions including managing sponsorship, partnership and marketing programs. She will be responsible for pursuing partnership and presentation opportunities for projects curated through Strut programs.
Locke, Ure head to METS
Chris Ure (top) has been appointed engineering manager and will head up the engineering division at Mineral Engineering Technical Services. Dr Ure comes to METS with more than 20 years experience in process analysis, control and optimisation, with particular expertise in ironmaking, process design, implementation of process changes, process audits, engineering design and specification, and project management. Dr Ure is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and is committee member of the Perth branch of the AusIMM. Marcus Locke has been promoted to process manager and will take responsibility for driving the process division. Mr Locke is a metallurgist with 13 years' experience in the mining industry, specialising in project feasibility and development. He is a specialist in the extraction of mineral sands, iron ore, gold and base metals with well developed analytical and technical skills. Mr Locke's operational background, tied with his engineering design expertise, provides the skills and experience required to bring a conceptual project successfully into production.
