French, Lester receive top honours
High Court Chief Justice Robert French was awarded a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) on Australia Day for his service to the law and legal education.
He was joined by cricketing legend Dennis Lillee who has made a member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his contribution to the sport. Growth Equities Mutual founder Dick Lester (pictured) and Salitage Wines founder John Horgan were also made members while Bill Mitchell, Liberal MLC George Cash and Patricia Giles were also included in the honours list.
Laurance heads to Convention Bureau
The Perth Convention Bureau has announced the appointment of tourism industry leader and former state parliamentarian, Ian Laurance as its new chairman. Mr Laurance, who recently stepped down as chairman of Australia's North West, is also chairman of publicly listed entities, property development company Axiom Properties and rare earth outfit, Arafura Resources.
New CEO at DBP
Stuart Johnston has been appointed chief executive at Dampier Bunbury Pipeline, taking over from Stuart Hohnen who will move to a new role as non-executive chairman. Mr Johnston joins DBP after a 20-year career with Shell, where he worked in pipeline operations, offshore construction and LNG project development. His most recent role was as vice-president strategy portfolio and planning with Shell Upstream International.
