Vernall director at Savills
Savills has appointed Steven Vernall as divisional director in the Western Australian retail management division. Mr Vernall has worked with Woolworths in its property section as regional property manager for more than 12 years and has an intimate knowledge of the retail sector and developments in WA. He will offer consultancy and strategic advice to developers and principles as well as continuing to service existing management clients.
Williams to Fox
Fox Resources has appointed Tamsin Williams as microbiologist to help drive the development of the miner’s new heap leach operations for the Radio Hill mine and associated sulphide ores. Ms Williams will work closely with the executive management team to provide expertise and guidance to the development of bacterial heap leaching at the projects in the Pilbara.
Houghton’s IronClad commitment
IronClad Mining has fast-tracked the development of the Wilcherry Hill iron ore project with the appointment of Ken Houghton as marketing general manager. Previously with Portman Mining, Mr Houghton brings broad and extensive experience in mine development and marketing to his key role with IronClad.
Rendu to Snowden
International award winning mining engineer Jean-Michel Rendu has been appointed global executive consultant at Snowden. Mr Rendu was previously resource and mine planning vice-president at Newmont Mining Corporation. He has worked as an assistant professor with the University of Wisconsin, and as head of operations research with Anglovaal in Johannesburg. He will be based in North America.
Capolingua to chair Healthway
Health Minister Kim Hames has appointed former Australian Medical Association president Rosanna Capolingua to chair the Healthway board. Dr Capolingua takes over from previous chair, Jenn Morris. Dr Capolingua has been a member of the Healthway board since 2000 and also a member of the Health Advisory Committee. She served as president of the AMA at a state level, as the association’s federal president. Currently she is a member of the medical board of WA, the board of WA, the board of MercyCare and is the director of general practice liaison at St John of God Hospital in Subiaco.

ScreenWest board chair Erica Smyth (top right) and board members Alan Lindsay and Catherine Ferrari have been reappointed. Ms Smyth previously worked as an executive in the mining and petroleum industry. Mr Lindsay is the managing director of production company Vue DC Pty. He has more than 39 years’ experience in broadcast production. Ms Ferrari is currently the communications general manager at the Water Corporation and director of the West Australian Opera.
Coles takes museum role
Alec Coles has been appointed director of the Western Australian Museum. Mr Coles, a museum director from the UK, has more than 30 years’ experience in the cultural and heritage sectors. In his current role as the Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums director in the UK, Mr Coles is responsible for 12 museums, galleries and heritage sites and is leader of the North East Regional Museums Hub.

Lavan Legal has appointed Nathan Ebbs (top right) and Kirsten Cadle (top left) as senior associates while Nikki Batalin (middle right), Linh Trinh (middle left) and Janan Thomas (bottom) have been appointed as associates. Ms Cadle is experienced in mergers and acquisitions, project finance, resource agreements and general corporate governance. She has spent seven years as in-house counsel for ARC Energy. Mr Ebbs has been part of Lavan’s legal team since 2006 and specialises in commercial litigation, contractual disputes and corporations law. Ms Batalin practises in the commercial advice and litigation group specialising in defamation and media law torts, trade practices, contract property disputes and recovery work. Ms Trinh specialises in banking and finance as well as takeovers and capital raising while, Mr Thomas specialises in banking and finance.
