New chief of staff for Premier
Brian Pontifex will start as chief of staff to the WA premier next month, filling the vacancy left by Deidre Willmott (see story page 4). Mr Pontifex will step down from his role as general manager, corporate affairs and sustainability, Browse LNG Development at Woodside Energy.
New directors at CBH Group
Former HBOS Australia chief executive David Willis (pictured top) will join the CBH Group as a director, replacing Ken Palmer who will retire from the board. Mr Willis has also held senior executive positions with Westpac Banking Corporation and Lloyds Bank Australia. Meanwhile Wesfarmers and National Broadband Network director Diane Smith-Gander will replace Lloyd Guthrey, who has given notice of his intention to retire. Ms Smith-Gander is also a board member of Basketball Australia and her most recent executive roles include have been with Westpac Banking Corporation and McKinsey & Co in the USA.Pearce heads to FMG
Fortescue Metals Group has appointed Stephen Pearce as chief financial officer, effective March 2. Mr Pearce previously held the role of managing director for Southern Cross Electrical Engineering. He replaces Fiona Barclay, who has acted in the role since the resignation late last year of Michael Minosora.
Leadership changes at Hassell
Hassell has made several key leadership appointments in the Perth studio. Principal John Crabtree has been appointed to the position of managing principal. Andy Sharp has been appointed international head of landscape architecture and Mike Mouritz international head of its Sustainable Futures Unit.
Cramer, Griffin to William Buck
The William Buck wealth advisors business unit has appointed Paul Cramer as the principal responsible for wealth advisory. He has more than 20 years' experience in the financial planning and wealth advisory business and extensive experience in management at a senior level within the financial services industry, including most recently with Macquarie Bank in Perth and Sydney. William Buck has also appointed Karicia Griffin as tax manager. Ms Griffin has 15 years' tax experience, the majority of these specialising in indirect taxes such as research and development, government grant incentives, GST and state taxes.
New faces at Fragomen
Stephanie Beard has been appointed senior associate to migration consultant Fragomen's Perth office. Ms Beard is a registered migration agent and practising solicitor with an extensive background in Australian corporate migration. She has more than 12 years' experience providing migration services to a range of client including within the resource sector. Chris de Sousa (top right) has been appointed consultant. He is a registered migration agent and practising solicitor with background in both corporate and individual Australian visa categories. Tim Harper (below) has been appointed as the immigration practice manager. He is a registered migration agent with several years of corporate experience advising clients from a range of industries including engineering, oil and gas, mining and construction.
Taylor at Terranovis
Land development company Terranovis (formerly SPM Project Marketing) has appointed Cade Taylor as project manager. Mr Taylor has extensive experience in commercial projects such as the Subiaco Pavilion Development for First State Group and the Steve's Hotel redevelopment for Multiplex. He will manage the newly released 300-lot Riverbank Estate in Southern River.
Del Fante plans for United
Leading credit union United Community has launched a new financial planning advisory service throughout Western Australia, with services to be delivered by Eastwoods Wealth Management. Rick Del Fante has been appointed at United Community as the Perth-based representative for Eastwoods. Mr Del Fante will assist clients to take control of their financial future as well as provide advice on all financial planning related issues and personal risk insurance. Eastwoods Wealth Management is a wholly owned subsidiary of Community CPS Australia, which is also the parent company of United Community.
Robinson takes on CSG role
IT services company CSG has appointed Peter Robinson as its new managed services business development executive for Western Australia. Bringing with him more than 20 years' experience encompassing infrastructure, software and services, Mr Robinson returns to the managed services arena after a period within the software arena where his proficiency focused on ECM Solutions. He is a former executive for both Fujitsu and KAZ/Telstra.
Woods elected to PCB board
Australian Hotels Association (WA) chief executive officer Bradley Woods has been elected to the board of the Perth Convention Bureau for a two-year term. A former director who served on the board for four years from 2000, Mr Woods was elected along with Perth Convention Exhibition Centre general manager Dean Lee. Retiring director Kelsie Johnston was re-elected to fill one of four vacancies on the board. A new face on the board is councillor James Limnios, who replaces Sandra Liu as the City of Perth's nominee.
Johnson makes Quickstep
Advanced composite component manufacturer Quickstep Technologies has appointed former Boeing executive John Johnson to the position of chief financial officer. Mr Johnson has held senior positions with high-profile aerospace companies, including: commercial manager of finance, Hawker de Havilland, for The Boeing Company; financial controller ASTA Components for Aerospace Technologies of Australia Ltd; and assisted as manager for the defence integrated distribution system project team for BAE Systems. He recently was executive general manager finance and legal and executive general manager corporate service for the Port of Melbourne Corporation.
