Hood elected CCI president Peter Hood has been elected the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia president. Mr Hood is a chemical engineer with almost 40 years experience including with WMC, Coogee Chemicals and Coogee Resources. He is currently chairman of SWAN Gas, MAK Industrial Water Systems, and Equip Health Systems. He succeeds Warwick Hemsley. Tourism and hospitality operator Kate Lamont was elected vice president. Streitberg to chair APPEA Buru Energy executive director Eric Streitberg has been elected chairman of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association for 2009/10. Mr Streitberg, who was previously vice-chairman, takes over from former ExxonMobil Australia chairman Mark Nolan. Current ExxonMobil Australia chairman John Dashwood was elected vice-chairman. Walsh gets larger Rio role Sam Walsh has taken over responsibility for mining giant Rio Tinto's Australian corporate office. Mr Walsh will continue to be based in Perth and remains Rio Tinto Iron Ore chief executive. The move is part of a reshuffle of the company's organisational structure, which included the re-instatement of the diamonds and minerals product group alongside the iron ore, copper, aluminium and energy product groups.
